His Rosh Yeshiva was RJB, and the subtext was that Tehillim is not for Talmidei Chachamim, it's for Chasidim and women. I don't know about RJB, but I know that his brother, Reb Aharon, was a tehilim fanatic. He constantly said tehillim, for good, for bad, for nothing at all. I remember being woken up in the early, early morning in the mountains and hearing Reb Moshe, standing on his porch, saying tehillim.

What I don't like is to make it part of davening. I think the maaleh of tehillim is davka when it's said voluntarily, not because the minhag is to say two kapitlach after davening.

When our kids were going out, my wife constantly said tehillim. I was someich on Zechus Avos and was mispallel that Hashem should focus on past generations and ignore me. Worked out well. The mechutanim I could do without, but the kids are BH wonderful.bnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20173285.post-53212356909851175072010-11-12T13:27:55.636-05:002010-11-12T13:27:55.636-05:00And Ya'akov understood him as well -- "Ac...And Ya'akov understood him as well -- "Achiv anochi b'rama'us."

I think Lavan and Ya'akov are called brothers because they shared the same exact talent of chochma, just one utilized it for good, one for bad.
