Rashi says that he dressed us as a Kenaani even though he was an Amaleki, so that Bnei Yisrael would pray to be saved from the Kenaani, and their prayers would be ineffective because they would be praying for help against the wrong enemy.<br /><br />Your dvar torah here also answers the question there, why prayer wouldn't be effective if they asked for the wrong thing.banoreply@blogger.com
