"Beauty is truth, truth beauty" and the story of Chanukah

"Beauty is truth, truth beauty - that is all ye know on earth and all ye need to know" is the famous concluding lines of Keats' "Ode on a Grecian Urn". The relationship between superficial physical beauty and eternal enduring truth was at the heart of the conflict between the Ancient Greek Hellinists and the Macabbes. If you don't live in the 5T, Queens, Midtown, or Brooklyn areas that get Kallah Magazine (edited by my wife) distributed in print format, click here for an online .pdf copy where you can read my article on the topic, "Beauty and Truth: Shalom, Emes, and Chanukah", on page 6. Hurry up - Chanukah is almost over!
