laws for thee, not for me

A few months ago I wrote that I no longer think dina d'malchusa applies to the current banana republic-like country in which we live in.  I beat Kurt Schlichter by a few months, but his article is worth reading.  He puts it bluntly: "The idea of the rule of law today is a lie. There is no law. There is no justice. There are only lies."  And he wrote this before today's ridiculous outrage by James Comey.  About that, I refer you to the Observer, which had this to say:
Today, the FBI sold out the Rule of Law in America. After describing clear evidence of extensive mishandling of classified national security information, FBI Director James Comey announced that the FBI will not recommend indicting former secretary of state Hillary Clinton. This is naked crony government, ugly and exposed. Comey’s decision will go down as one of the government’s worst assaults on truth in its War on Honesty.
I could not have put it better.

On a similar note, maybe someone can explain to me why the same people  hyperventilating over a little six-sided star in a Trump ad have no problem with anything  their party and their President giving billions to Iran so they can arm Hezbollah and Hamas and eventually get a nuke to threaten Israel with.  Isn't that a little worse than a star in an ad?  But what do I know.

  1. It's giveback for the 2000 decision that gave the election to Bush. Unfortunately, many choshuveh batei din use this principle in cases of shuda d'dayni- you get this one, I'll get the next one.
